MMDA sends 3rd team of rescuers to Davao Oriental

MANILA, Dec. 8 (PNA) — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is sending another team to help in the search and retrieval operations in typhoon-devastated Cateel town in Davao Oriental.

The 15-man MMDA contingent is the third batch of rescuers the agency has sent to Mindanao to help in extensive efforts to aid the thousands of victims of flash floods brought by Typhoon Pablo.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the Cateel team is composed of members of Road Emergency Group, Public Safety Office, Baklas Billboard and Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group.

The team will first be sent to the capital town of Mati to coordinate with the local Office of the Civil Defense. They left for Davao Oriental Saturday afternoon, Tolentino said.

“We want to field more personnel to worst-hit areas in Mindanao as much as we can so we could hasten rescue and relief operations there,” Tolentino said.

The team is equipped with appropriate gears such as search cameras, chainsaws, and other hand tools needed for search and retrieval mission.

Thursday, the MMDA sent two teams to Compostela Valley and a two-ton water purifier machine. (PNA)
