Caloocan Local Candidates and Mock Elections 2013

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has released the lists of Caloocan local candidates for the coming 2013 local elections.

The Caloocan local elections will be held in the City of Caloocan on May 13, 2013 within the Philippine general election. Registered voters will elect for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, the two congressmen, and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts.

Daily Tribune believed that Caloocan City may be in for yet another exciting elections sans violence as assured by the political rivals as the local electorate will vote come May 13 mid-term polls between a “father and a son and a son and a father.”

Local political observers believed it would really be a breathtaking scenario in Caloocan as the city voters will have the chance to choose intelligently between the father-and-a-son tandems of incumbent Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri and son Liga ng Barangay sa Pilipinas president and Councilor RJ Echiverri and District I Rep. Oscar Malapitan and son Councilor Along Malapitan, Daily Tribune said.

“The elder Echiverri, who is on his third and last term, will try to get his old post which is currently being held by the elder Malapitan and is being challenged by the younger Malapitan, a topnotcher councilor in the First District.
More spine-tingling is the race for the mayoral post between the elder Malapitan, a veteran politician from a councilor to vice mayor and his present post as three-termer congressman, and the younger Echiverri who has been successful in his political career given his current position which makes him a national figure.”
