Results dribbled in from the Lamitan City Barangay Elections 2013 on Monday, October 28, 2013. Hundreds of candidates vying for barangay chairmen or barangay captains and barangay councilors for Sangguniang Barangay posts are awaiting for the official results of the 2013 barangay elections. The entire city of Lamitan in the Province of Basilan has a total of 45 barangays. Thus, a need to elect 45 barangay captains and 315 barangay councilors is certain.

Lamitan is a 5th Class city in the province of Basilan. According to the 2008 census, it has a population of 82,074. The City is bounded on the east by the municipality of Tuburan, on the south by Tipo-Tipo, on the west by Isabela City and on the north by Basilan Strait.
Lamitan is politically subdivided into 45 barangays.
