Bam Aquino and His Platforms
Nephew of the late Ninoy Aquino and cousin to incumbent president Noynoy Aquino, Paolo Benigno A. Aquino IV or simply Bam Aquino, has a lot of pressure on his shoulders.
“I’m a member of a family who has dedicated their lives to public service,” said Aquino. I’m proud of my relatives’ track record and I hope that I can follow their footsteps,” Bam Aquino said adding that he will try to continue what his famous predecessors, which include former President Corazon Aquino and former Senator Ninoy, did for the country if he lands a seat in Senate.
At age 35, Bam has accomplished a lot; he is a former TV host, former Chairperson of the National Youth Commission of the Philippines, and currently the President of MicroVentures, Inc. which runs the multi-awarded social enterprise, The Hapinoy Program (www.hapinoy.com).
Bam Aquino is a part of the Liberal Party and is endorsed by not only the country’s President, but also of outgoing Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and actor Dingdong Dantes. Part of his platform is the the plight of small businesses and hopes to push for reforms to make it easier for micro-enterprises to exist and thrive in the market.
Bam Aquino is the son of Paul Aquino, the youngest brother of Ninoy Aquino. He graduated Magna cum laude with a degree in Economics at the Ateneo De Manila University in 2009, and Executive Education Program of Law at the Kennedy School of Government in the Harvard University in 2008. Last year, he received the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award of the World” for his world-class work with Youth and Social Enterprise.
Platforms/Advocacy of Bam Aquino
Among his priorities are jobs and youth, Bam Aquino said, specifically the improvement of the government’s conditional cash transfer or Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino program.
He called on government agencies to work together to make it easier for entrepreneurs to do business in the country.
Liberal Party senatoriable Benigno “Bam” Aquino says he will push for schools-to-jobs matching programs in order to prepare fresh graduates for the workplace and boost overall employment.
