Results dribbled in from the 2013 Butuan City Barangay Elections on Monday, October 28, 2013. Hundreds of candidates vying for barangay chairmen or barangay captains and barangay councilors for Sangguniang Barangay posts are awaiting for the official results of the barangay elections. The entire city of Butuan has a total of 86 barangays.

Dubbed as the “Home of the Balangays”, Butuan is a highly urbanized city in the Philippines’ Mindanao. It is the regional center of CARAGA region. It is located at the northeastern part of Agusan Valley, Mindanao, sprawling across the Agusan River. It is bounded to the north, west and south by Agusan del Norte, to the east by Agusan del Sur and to the northwest by Butuan Bay.

The city has a total land area of 17.28 square kilometers (315.55 sq mi) and has a population of 309,709 people, according to the latest decennial census.

Butuan City is politically subdivided into 86 barangays.
