Ricardo Penson is a Filipino business executive and social activist. He is currently running as an independent candidate for the 2013 Philippine Senate elections.

He is a native of Bulacan, a social activist and a successful businessman. He is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ausphil Tollways Corporation, a proponent of the North Luzon East Expressway (NLEE) Tollway Project.

He completed grade school and high school at the Notre Dame of Manila in Caloocan City. Ricardo Penson took up BSBA, Marketing at San Beda College; BBA, Equivalency Course at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA and attained a GMAT of 98%; and BBA and MDP at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA.

Ricardo Penson authored, “Marketing Strategies for Developing Countries,” UNDP staff working paper; Resource Speaker, “Looking Back, Moving Forward,” Center for Asian Studies, University of Michigan; and “Resiliency and Change in Philippine Political Governance,” “Harmony in a Multicultural World,” Centre for International Studies, University of Adelaide.

He advocates for an end to political dynasties in the Philippines and believes that family members should be prohibited from running for public office regardless of the place or position. In November 2012, he launched the Krusada Kontra Dynasty movement in order to further campaign for this advocacy. If elected as senator, he vows to pass a bill prohibiting political dynasties and that he would resign if it fails to become a law.

Ricardo Penson is single but was previously married to four women, the most notable of which was with Filipina actress Dina Bonnevie in 1996. The annulment of his marriage with Bonnevie in 1999 became the topic of showbiz news after he was accused of being psychologically incapable of being married.

However, records of the MTC Quezon City shows the Judge’s Order of Annulment stating that Geraldyn Bonnevie is psychologically incapacitated in as much as it was her that submitted to a psychological evaluation therefore husband Ricardo Penson cannot be found incapacitated.

    I’m quite skeptical about his motive for running in the senate. He seems to be a govt contractor. Alam naman natin na kadalasan magkakutchaba ang politiko at contractor sa mga anomalous govt project. Baka pwedeng silipin natin ang mga naging transactions niya sa gobyerno at siguraduhing Hindi siya nakipagsabwatan sa mga politiko upang makakupit sa gobyerno.
